Amidst the fires, a good piece (with an occasionally familiar itinerary) on the destruction of Russian architecture in the Guardian. More specifically to forests, the invaluable Chto Delat blog has much information on how the destruction of the Krimki forest, part of the green belt around Moscow's already colossal mass - to make way for a new highway between the capital and St Petersburg, whose infrastructural contempt for the rest of the country is noted passim - is currently resulting in a clampdown on anti-fascists, left oppositionists and of course journalists. This letter on a not-entirely natural disaster makes especially alarming reading.
