Viva Bognor

I.T, with camera, and mordancy visits Bognor, and the results are as fine as you'd expect - a spectacularly grey and rainy seaside, credit crunch related observations, inappropriate Blakean interludes. As she has been eliciting reader participation of late, there should be some sort of poll for most appropriate destination for an Infinite Photo-Essay. Hamburg? Swindon? Skegness? Magnitogorsk?

Northampton. You should both come, and take photos of the lift testing tower and the bus station.

That's a fine idea! Can we meet the fox cubs too? I promise not to steal their souls with my photomagraph machine.

Skegness would be a great one. But closer to London, I think you should make a Pleasuredome set. Go around all of the Retail & Leisure areas designated during the 80s that never really worked.

You know the sort of thing, enormous faceless estates, always strangely empty and thoroughly miserable.

Start with Surrey Quays Leisure Park, and then move on to anywhere with a Nando's near a PC World. In fact, film it all, and become the next Meades.

Well I'm thinking the nautical theme should be continued - Frinton and nearby Jaywick Sands both worth a look. Regular trains from Liverpool Street, toot toot.

I'm definitely up for Frinton and Northampton. And I know Surrey Quays well - a fine branch of Spud-u-like.

Bognor, interestingly (to me), was where my parents were at teacher training college together. My dad worked behind the bar at Butlins for a spell.

Perhaps I could offer some sort of service - one mordant photo-essay of your town in exchange for lunch and a couple of glasses of wine. I couldn't think of a better life!

I vote for some jaunt to find old and abandoned private lunatic asylums. You can plan your trips using this handy index to asylums in your area!

WWW/STUDY/4ASYLUMS.htm

You could check out Brislington house in Bristol! Apparently, Dr. Fox was sued often by his patients. Especially the ladies whose husbands stashed them there when they became inconveniently hysterical. You could conjure up the ghosts of these mad women to attack Nu Labour bureaucrats!
